Professor James Whisstock studied for his degree and PhD at the University of Cambridge. He moved to Monash University in 1997. Currently, James is an NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellow and Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Advanced Molecular Imaging. His research areas include structural biology and drug development with a particular focus on immunity-related complexes. In these regards his team studies inflammation, blood coagulation and the major immune effectors responsible for destruction of virally infected or malignant cells.

Dr Stephanie Gras studied physic and biology for her degree and PhD at the University Joseph Fourier in France. Stephanie moved just after her PhD to Monash University in 2007, to join the Rossjohn laboratory. Since moving to Australia, she has been actively working in the area of Structural biology and Immunology to decipher the mechanism of pathogens recognition by the immune system. Currently, Stephanie is an ARC Future Fellow and group leader of a team focused on T cell immunity. Her research has a large focus on immunity towards viruses such as Influenza and HIV.

This event is part of Melbourne Knowledge Week, 2 – 8 May 2016, proudly presented by the City of Melbourne.
