BAHARAK MAHYAD

PhD Student

Integrated Imaging: a method to better understand T cell decision-making process (PhD)

Supervisor’s name:

Prof. Katharina (Kat) Gaus

Overview:
Baharak Mahyad is a specialist in cell biologist with expertise in immunology research, molecular imaging, and data analysis. Her PhD will be completed in November 2020 at the UNSW Node in Sydney, Australia, within the Single Molecule Science department, Australia’s leading centre for advanced imaging and analysis of molecular mechanisms.

In her PhD research, she has developed technologies for imaging and analysing the regulation of immune cell populations. Her breakthrough methodologies provide new insights into immune cell regulation that can impact the provision of therapies in different areas including, but not limited to, cancer treatment. Involved in IMNIS industry mentoring program, Baharak is planning to translate her academic knowledge and the soft skills she gained from her PhD to Australia’s flourishing and progressed pharma and biotechnology industry.
