Established in 2005 by the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS), the success of Day of Immunology (DoI) led to its celebration worldwide annually on the 29th of April since 2007. Under the auspices of the Australasian Society for Immunology (ASI), DoI has been celebrated in Australia and New Zealand since 2009. The primary goal of the day is to promote immunology to the public and encourage a better understanding of why our immune systems are important during health and disease through education. All of the events run by the Victorian ASI branch are free and open to the public and include a public lecture, Discovery Tours of local research institutes and full day workshops for VCE biology students.
The Imaging CoE is fully committed to support the DoI and to inspire the public and the future generation of scientists about the importance of immunological research.
