Event DetailsStart Date: 14 January 2019 - 9:00 am End Date: 18 January 2019 - 1:00 pm Venue: The University of Queensland (UQ), St Lucia, 4072 (Building 63, Room 360) Link:https://scanzcrystallographyschool.wordpress.com/
The School is run approximately every two years with the aim to provide a strong background in the theory of X-ray crystallography as well as the opportunity to obtain practical experience at aspects of structure determination including data collection, data processing, phasing and crystallographic refinement. The School will cover both chemical and macromolecular crystallography. We are aiming to attract 50+ postgraduate students from across Australia and New Zealand and postdoctoral researchers.
In order to provide the best instruction for the students, invited speakers from across the country and well as internationally will come to Queensland and teach aspects of crystallography for which they are experts. Crystallography is a technique used by a number of labs in the Imaging CoE.
Subjects to be covered:
Principles of X-ray Diffraction, Maths for Crystallography, Reciprocal Space and Bragg’s Law, Radiation Sources, Structure Factors and Electron Density, Symmetry, Crystallography theory, Data collection, Data reduction, Phasing, Refinement, Twinning and Model validation.
